July 7, 2010

The 4th was good. We couldn't be on the streets past 6pm so all the missionaries in our zone went to the church and watched the other side of heaven. It was fun. This past week was kind of shot as far as the work goes. On Wednesday morning we were evacuated to Edinburgh which is right next to McAllen. We stayed with some other elders who lived there. We also welcomed our new mission president, Pres. Trayner. We had two, seven hour conferences there on Weds and Thurs. Then at night we would go out and help the elders we were staying with. It rained a lot and the streets we flooded in Edinburgh and the same thing happened in Brownsville. It just rained for one day though and we returned back to Brownsville on Thurs night. There wasn't any damage except in one of the small towns in our area had a tornado and trees were knocked down. Nothing too bad. We then had two more conferences in Harlingen and Brownsville so we didn't get a whole lot of work done. Right now it is horrible because there are mosquitos everywhere. I have too many bites to count! Other than that things are going good. We are working with some great people and we are going to have two baptisms this Sunday. We keep hearing about another hurricane forming so that should be very exciting.

Things are back to normal. The baptisms went really well. We baptized a guy named Frank and his mom Maria. Maria is 81 and a former Jehovah's Witness so it was really cool to see her get baptized.

The first picture is Frank and Maria's baptism

The second is a plaque I got for passing scriptures off with pres Miller

Third is homemade pizza Elder Guillen and I made on Father's Day. The member actually made mine and put a bunch of weeds on it (spinach) and not a lot of meat but it was still really good

April 11, 2010

This week was good. We had Zone Conference and I went on exchanges with the zone leaders. I am getting fatter by the day because we get fed almost everyday. I love it!
So many people in this area just love to feed the elders. I am in a little spanish branch and an english ward. There are like 5 wards in Brownsville. We have a car because our area is huge. It covers a small town called Olmito, San Pedro, and Rancho Viejo. We are excited because we are going to have a baptism this week with this super cool lady. I have more pictures to send home but I want to just send my memory card to Holly and let her put some of them on the blog. I forgot all about my blog. I found out when one of my investigators said she had found it. Anyways all is well here. My comp is great. He was in a mexican pop group before he came out and loves to sing. We will be sitting on someones doorstep and he will be singing away in spanish. It is pretty funny. I'll have to get a video of it and send it home.
Well have a good week.

First set of pictures

So, I rarely hear from the boy and when I do there isn't much info. But we heard he lost his camera and I think Deb was going to send him another one, so these are the first set of pictures I have. I'm only adding the ones with Elder Strong in them. If you want to see the other pictures with people, you'll have to leave me a comment with your email.
I have not idea what any of these pictures mean, so just enjoy.

He has had at least two baptims. Good job Elder Strong
